HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal's getting ready to shine a light on Autism for the second year in a row. We're talking about the community-wide involvement in the Lighthouse Challenge.
The climb will be broken down into several levels or flights in this case, based on participants' own goals and abilities. The events organizer, Marlene Rodenbaugh, is a mother to an autistic child. She says the idea behind the stair climb is to reiterate the daily struggles of children who have special needs.
The Lighthouse Challenge will take place Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 a.m.
Registration starts at 6:00 a.m. at the Tom & Huck Statue.
Proceeds will go to provide recreational and educational tools for local children and their families with Autism and other special needs.
