HANNIBAL, MO. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is asking for your advice.
The department has added a reflective backplate to all of the signals along US 61 and Market St./Paris Gravel Rd.
"This is a first for Missouri highways, so we are interested to know if drivers think they're a good addition to the signal," said MoDOT Traffic Engineer Brian Untiedt. He said the regular backplates had to be replaced anyway, and the reflective backplates are more noticable. "These have been used in other states at higher speed intersections to help get a driver's attention and ultimately lead to accident reduction," Untiedt explained.
