KEOKUK, IOWA -- Billie Hyat, of rural Keokuk, was severely injured in a hit and run last Saturday night.

The 65-year-old woman was struck by an unknown car at about 7:30 that night in the 3500 block of Middle Road ... the vehicle left the scene.

The Keokuk Daily Gate City reported that a passerby found Hiatt a short time later, unconscious and bleeding.

She suffered multiple broken bones, a head wound and abrasions and was taken to Keokuk Area Hospital and then moved by Air Evac to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Trauma Center in Iowa City.

Authorities are looking for any information about the identity of the hit and run driver. They urge the public to call 524-4141 at extension 113.

KHQA's Melissa Shriver is in Keokuk Thursday to get further information, so check this story later.
