HANNIBAL, MO. -- Tuesday night the Hannibal City Council approved a 2011 tax levy that is 8 cents less than the one from last year.

It will offset the increase in assessed value for  Marion County, which went up last year.

The council also decided to deal with the disposal of property next door to city hall in a closed session at next week's council meeting.

The property was originally given to the city by owners Jim and Cheryl Love.

It would then be the city's responsibility to pay for it's demolition.

The Hannibal city council is also going ahead with design plans for the Main street sidewalk and overlay project.

Architechnics will do those designs which have to be approved by the city council by November 2nd.

If not ,the city could lose some of the funding for the project from MoDOT.
