QUINCY, ILL. -- Illinois governor Pat Quinn could start handing out pink slips to some state employees this week, all because of the budget shortfall the state is currently facing.

CBS reported that when asked if thousands of state workers could be laid off, Quinn said “we have to do what we have to do.”

We plan on talking with State Senator John Sullivan and State Representative Norine Hammond to find out what they think of the what the governor may do.

According to a Chicago Tribune report, there's speculation the governor wants to lay off employees, close a prison and close homes for the mentally ill and the developmentally disabled.

What's your take on possible layoffs? Are any layoffs acceptable? Post your comment below or on our Facebook page ... we want to hear from you!
