QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy School Board passed the budget for the 2011-2012 school year in the second of two meetings on Wednesday.

The 73.2  million dollar budget passed by a 4 to 3 vote.

Our news gathering partner Quincy Journal reports board member Scott Stone moved at the first meeting Wednesday morning to trim $650 thousand dollars from the budget.

That money would come from salaries and benefits and would be applied to the deficit.

But when the board reconvened Wednesday night with all of the members present, Stone withdrew that motion and the budget passed.

The district is still on the state's watch list because of its money problems.

The district had to approve a budget before the end of the month on Friday.
