Body found behind building destroyed by fire

MONTICELLO, MO. -- UPDATED: October 11 at 10:25 a.m.

The name of the body found following Monday's fire has been released In a press release from the Lewis County Coroner Tuesday.

74-year-old Hubert Nesbitt of Williamstown, Mo. was found dead behind an outbuilding on his farm.

Several outbuildings were discovered fully engulfed in flame around 1:48 p.m. Monday and Mr. Nesbitt's body was found at 5 p.m.

It appears he died as a result of the fire, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton, Mo.

A body was found behind one of the buildings destroyed in Monday afternoon's fire near Monticello, Missouri.

The Lewis County coroner says the man's name will be released until the family is notified.

The blaze destroyed four structures between Monticello and Williamstown.

Jeff McReynolds with the Canton Fire Department told KHQA several fire departments battled the blaze, which started around 1:30 p.m.

One of the structures destroyed was a barn full of hay.

McReynolds said the cause is undetermined at this time.
