HANNIBAL, MO. -- Visitors in Hannibal packed its Main Street to get a glimpse of history this weekend. It's all part of the 35th Annual Folklife Festival throughout the city's historic district.
Saturday and Sunday, artisans and craftsmen showcased their handmade goods and fine crafts for the public. Visitors got to see over 80 attractions, including live music and an area for children. One booth at the festival was passionate about quilting and helping children.
"We make quilts for Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Shiners Hospital, and for Avenues. We make lap robes for the nursing homes. It's just a wonderful way to give to other people what we like to do," said Nancy Delaporte.
Many visitors walked down Main Street to sample the festival's food selections. A favorite of the folk-life festival is the variety of food choices. The festival offers everything from freshly pressed cider to fried pork rinds.
"I've got food now stored in one of the stores to take home. It's a beautiful day, and it's one of the nicest Folklife Festivals I have seen in years," said Lana Ferrel, a Hannibal resident.
If you couldn't make the festival Saturday, it will continue through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
