FORT MADISON -- The Fort Madison School district will have an unusual addition to its newest school building.
According to the Daily Democrat, officials will receive one million dollars from FEMA to construct a safe room at its new fourth-through-eighth grade school facility.
The 7 thousand square-foot facility will have no windows, and will be able to withstand severe storms with up to 250 mile-per-hour winds, including projectiles.
It will shelter all of the school's 800 students and 120 staff members.
