CAMP POINT, ILL -- Classes have been canceled after a boiler malfunctioned at Camp Point Central High School. School Superintendent Martin Cook tells KHQA the boiler was fired up for the first time this season. Steam filled the boiler room and triggered the fire alarms.
The school activated its evacuation plan while fire crews inspected the facility. No fire was detected. Cook says school will be canceled for students in grades 5-12. Students in pre-K through 4 will still go to class today. The district did activate its "SchoolReach" system to update parents.
Cooks says crews will be in to inspect and fix the boiler.
No injuries were reported and Cook says the evacuation plan worked without a flaw.
