TRI-STATE AREA -- Blankets, fireplaces, furnaces, ice scrapers, and coats – it's 'go' time! Temperatures will settle to between 29 and 31 degrees late Thursday night over most of the Tri-State area.
An area-wide Freeze Warning is in effect for expected widespread, night-time low temperatures of around 30 degrees. Freeze Warnings in the fall are generally issued only a time or two, and they are used to indicate the official end of the growing season.
In addition, many folks will be waking up to frost on Friday morning. If you do not have access to covered parking, you’ll want to allow some extra time to scrape frost from your vehicle in the morning.
Sensitive plants left outside will be killed if they are left uncovered or aren’t brought into the home. The cold temperatures and frost will damage other tender vegetation as well.
