Florida man dies in accident near Wever

WEVER, IOWA -- One person was killed in a single car accident near Weaver, Iowa Saturday.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department as well as Wever Fire and Rescue crews responded to the intersection of Highway 61 and 346th Avenue around 7:20 a.m.

Investigators say the driver, 37-year-old Charles Ceylon Mitchell lost control of his car along Highway 61 and it left the roadway, rolling several times into the northbound lanes of traffic.

A passenger in the car, Lathan Puga of Florida was ejected from the car and was pinned underneath.  He died at the scene. 

Mitchell, the driver of the car, was treated at the Great River Medical Center and was later released.

The accident remains under investigation.
