CLARK COUNTY, MO. -- Area law enforcement agencies are teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Administration to keep unused prescriptions out of the hands of drug users.

This Saturday is the DEA's National Take Back Initiative.

It's your chance to clean out your medicine cabinets for controlled and over the counter drugs to turn in for safe disposal.

Here's a look at just a few drop off locations available Saturday from 10a.m. until 2p.m.

Clark County Sheriff's Department

Edina Police Department

Quincy Mall Subpost of the Quincy Police Department

County Market in Palmyra

Officials say turning in old medicine not only prevents drug abuse, but allows for them to be disposed of safely.

If you flush them down the toilet or throw them away, they can go into landfills and back into the environment and ground water.
