QUINCY, ILL. -- An employee in the Adams County Circuit Clerk's office has thrown her hat into the ring for circuit clerk.

Lori Geschwandner of Quincy seeks the Democratic nomination for the post in the November 2012 election.

She's served as deputy circuit clerk for 14 years.

According to a press release, Geschwandner said, "As Deputy Circuit Clerk for 14 years, I am experienced in the day-to-day operations of the office. I know the duties and responsibilities of the Circuit Clerk and have enjoyed a good rapport with the judges, attorneys and others using the services of the office."

This is Geschwandner's first time to seek an elected public office.

You'll recall former Illinois state Senator Laura Kent Donahue announced her candidacy to seek the Republican nomination in September.

The incumbent, Randy Frese is not running for a third term ... instead he is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge state Senator John Sullivan.
