QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Police Department has launched a new sex offender tracking website, called OffenderWatch, to provide a more user-friendly and immediate option for the residents of Quincy.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office, through grant funding, offers the OffenderWatch program to Illinois Law Enforcement agencies interested in participating in the web-based program.
By utilizing OffenderWatch, the QPD will be able to provide the citizens of Quincy the most up-to-date information on all sexual offenders in Quincy as well as those registered in the state.
Quincy residents will also able to register to receive email alerts if a sex offender moves within a certain proximity to their home, work, child’s school or other locations.
Detective Sergeant Jeff Grott of the Youth Unit will oversee the program.

This program is used by more than 5,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide including the Adams County Sheriff’s Department. For a law enforcement agency, it streamlines the search process, eliminating the need for officers to go to each individual state registry when searching for information on a sexual offender. Increased utilization of OffenderWatch is making it easier for law enforcement agencies to track sexual offenders not only in their own community but across the country.
Quincy residents can enter any address of interest and see a list of all registered sexual offenders within a defined radius, from a few blocks up to two miles. There is even the ability to register, free of charge, to be notified by email if an offender registers an address within that specific radius. You can register as many addresses as you would like for free.
