QUINCY, ILL. -- Sometimes when a semi tractor trailer dealership needs to convert an old semi cab from a sleeper rig to a non sleeper rig, they have little choice but to throw the old sleeper portion of the cab away and send it to the landfill.

The Quincy Mack Truck Sales & Service dealership has found a great way to recycle and a way to make hunters very happy.

Take a drive near 52nd and Broadway in Quincy and you will see something a little out of the ordinary.

Camouflage hunting blinds sitting on the front lot of the Quincy mack truck dealership. No it's not something that is a joke, it's something the dealership has been doing for awhile and they've sold quite a few of them.

Larry Dietrich is the general manager of the dealership and he says what started out as something they thought would take off, has turned out to be a venture that sells about 20 to 25 a year. You can get the smaller ones that will hold one of two men and can be loaded on the back of a pickup truck. Or you can get the larger one that will even feature a sleeper above the common area and that's a place where you can actually take a nap if you want.

"So several years ago we came up with the idea just to make deer blinds out of them and we through the summer months we cut them up and put holes in them on the sides. Get them prepared, paint them up and sell them in the fall for deer blinds," said Dietrich.

They're made of aluminum and fiberglass, so they want succumb to the elements. Dietrich also says they come with the paint scheme or unpainted so you can make your own camo design. They sell for either $350 or $450 depending on which size you want.
