EAST HANNIBAL, ILL. -- The federal government will handle the repatriation of those Native American bones found in and near the Mississippi River in East Hannibal last September.

Pike County Illinois Sheriff Paul Petty says since the bones were found on federal land, his office is now out of the process.
Several Native American representatives and the federal government will be discussing what to do with the bones.
They're currently at a museum in Springfield Illinois.
Once the Native American representatives are officially notified about the discovery, they have 30 days to respond as to what they would like to have done with the bones.
