TRI-STATE AREA -- Useful weather gear for this week would include raincoats and umbrellas … and gloves and coats even by later in the week. The silver lining: you’re going to love Tuesday’s temperatures!

Several clusters of heavy-rain-producing thunderstorms will impact the entire Tri-State region from late Monday evening through Wednesday morning. Most of us will get from an-inch-and-a-half to 3 inches of total rainfall from this event, so you may want to be sure that your gutters are clean and that your sump pump is working properly.

There will be some potential for flash flooding late Monday night through Wednesday morning – especially in southeastern Iowa. This is where localized, total rainfall amounts are most likely to be much higher than 3 inches. In addition to heavy rain, there may be a few strong or severe thunderstorms on Tuesday that would produce wind gusts to around 60 miles per hour.

Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to 70 on Tuesday, but they’ll turn quite a bit cooler for Wednesday and Thursday. Expect high temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday to be in the 40s area-wide! Night-time temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s on Wednesday night and Thursday night.
