MACOMB, ILL. -- It's like something out of CSI ... and it's in Macomb.
According to the McDonough County Voice, the McDonough County Sheriff's Department has a new fingerprinting system that links it with other crime fighting organizations.
The system electronically scans fingerprints and instantly sends the images to local departments the Illinois Bureau of Investigation as well as Immigration and Customs to name a few.
It sounds simple, but McDonough County is ahead of the class ... the first in the state to implement a live scan system that's integrated with the department's filing system.
It was mostly paid for by grants from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.
