QUINCY, ILL. -- For generations, Roman Catholic priests have offered the blessing "Lord be with you," with church goers responding, "And also with you."
That will all change in just over three weeks. On November 27, the response will be "And with your spirit."
That's just one of several changes to masses, because of a new translation of the Roman Missal that experts say is closer to the original latin.
The missal is a text of prayers and instructions for celebrating Mass.

It's not just a big change for church goers, it's a challenge for priests, who must learn new speaking parts.
Father Michael Kuse is the pastor for the Blessed Sacrament parish in Quincy.
He says this doesn't change the religion or the structure of mass, only some specific spoken phrases.
Kuse says it will be a challenge for priests like him who must learn the new speaking parts.
Kuse said, "It becomes a part of you. After a while you don't need to look at the texts. But now we're going to be focused on the text for a while until that all becomes natural to us and the people."

The last change to the missal happened 50 years ago.
Kuse says the latest changes actually shift mass back to more like it was then.
