QUINCY, ILL. -- Many of Quincy's less fortunate children will opens gifts this Christmas thanks to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree.

The Angel Tree program got an extra boost this year from the Harley Owners Group (HOG) with its annual Toy Run.

"The angel trees go out, but the very first people with their toys back are the Harley riders. This is a great, incredible jumpstart to the whole Christmas season," said Major Dan Jennings, with the Quincy Salvation Army.

"Christmas is all about the kids. I work at Baldwin School and I see a lot of these children who are going to do without Christmas this year if it wasn't for an organization like the Salvation Army," said Pennie Kruse, the HOG chairperson.

The Toy Run's ride through town is also part of the appeal for these Harley riders.

"Really its about combining two passions. One is riding motorcycles and two is providing toys and gifts for young people," said Major Jennings.

There are still many more children who could use your help this Christmas.

"There are a lot more Angels on the trees, so as you go shopping, pick up a tag and go shopping for a child," said Major Jennings.

"It's Christmas time, It's time to give back to the community," said Shawn Elkins, the president of the River Roads HOG Chapter.

This is the 10th year for HOG chapter's Toy Run. If you would like to donate a Christmas gift to the Angel Tree Program, contact the Quincy Salvation Army at 217-222-5762.
