FORT MADISON, IOWA -- It could be Tuesday at the earliest before the U.S. 61 bypass opens near Fort Madison.

The Daily Democrat reports the bypass was supposed to open this week, but that's not going to happen because of recent rainy weather.

A ribbon cutting has already been held for the bypass.

According to Joe Benedict of the Daily Democrat, crews broke ground on this project in the spring of 2009.
