A Hannibal man is without a home after two fires damaged the structure overnight and early Monday morning.

Hannibal firefighters were called to the home at 1103 Church Street for a fire shortly after 12:30 Monday morning when the homeowner smelled smoke.

Firefighters thought they had put out the electrical fire in the attic at that time, but were called back to the scene shortly after seven Monday morning.

Smoldering cinders fell between the walls from the attic, and caused the fire to re-kindle.

The fire caused major smoke and water damage, but the homeowner is safe.
