QUINCY, ILL. -- If you've seen the weather these past couple of days in parts of the south, you've seen that many towns that aren't used to seeing a lot of snow have been in for quite a surprise.
But in Quincy, city crews have been prepping for the first snow since about the middle of October.
City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp says the equipment has been checked and replaced.
Snow plows have been attached to trucks and the road salt supply has been added, too, to get the city ready for another winter season.
"Even though we don't declare a snow emergency, if you can park your car in your driveway or off the street that would be great. That way we can plow curb to curb and have a clear space in front of your house," Steinkamp says.
The city sends out 15 trucks when it's called out to plow.
Steinkamp tells KHQA that they usually have about 24 hours of advance warning leading up to a possible winter storm that is supposed to hit the area.
