DES MOINES, IA. -- Officials say a white deer often spotted along Interstate 80 in central Iowa has been killed by a vehicle near the Baxter exit.

Here's your Facebook Story of the Day.

According to KCCI-TV in Des Moines the Department of Natural Resources says the doe was killed Monday night.

White deer are protected in Iowa and can't be hunted.

A Conservation officer says the doe had a pair of brown fawns last spring.

He says the deer was often seen with another white deer that was hit by a vehicle in the same area a few years ago.
