The incident took place 2 miles east of Golden, Ill. at around 3:30 a.m. on Friday.

The problem arose when the back wheels of one car jumped the track. That in turn caused damage to the track.

Crews have now replaced the wheel and the car has been moved. Now they are working to replace the track.

There is no estimate on when the track will be fixed.

Amtrak will be offering charter bus service between Quincy and Galesburg and Macomb and Chicago for passengers Friday, expecting to be out of service all day.

They hope to restore operations on Saturday.
