Homeland Security investigation results in arrest for steroids

McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker reports that Eric A. Hardt, 26, of Macomb has been arrested following an investigation involving the Department of Homeland Security and the McDonough County Sheriff's Office.

The joint investigation and arrest resulted from the interception of a package containing 1,000 tablets and 25 vials of Anabolic Steroids by Homeland Security.

The package was sent from China with the destination of Reeveston Drive in Macomb.

A sting operation involving the McDonough County Sheriff's Office and the Macomb, Blandinsville, Bushnell and Colchester Police was set up at Hardt's residence on Reeveston Drive, where he was arrested in his vehicle with the open package containing the Anabolic Steroids.

Liquid Hydrocodone and numerous syringes were seized from the residence.

Hardt has been lodged in the McDonough County Jail and is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone), Possession of Controlled Substance with the intent to Deliver (Anabolic Steroids) and Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.
