In brief session Tuesday, the Quincy Plan Commission gave its support to a few requests.
Carol Pflantz, owner of the Vanity Club currently at 2226 North 12th, was granted the first step in obtaining a special permit for a planned development. Pflantz has the option to buy the building at 501 North 13th Street. She wants to operate a hair salon and day spa from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Seventh-Ward Alderman Jack Holtschlag addressed the Commission and said he and fellow Alderman Terri Heinecke supported Pflantz's request.
The Commission briefly discussed the parking issue - two spots are needed for every full-time employee and off-street parking seems sparse in that area. Pflantz plans to have four employees, some part time.
Commissioners approved requests from John R. Benz to divide one lot into two at 919 Einhaus Lane and to be able to register a mobile home at 931 Einhaus as a nonconforming use.
John Shaw's request for a special permit to enlarge an existing non-conforming use was also granted. He operates Stubby's Tavern at 1517 North Third. The building has housed a tavern since 1945.
All items the Commissioners voted on will go before City Council for final approval Monday night.
