QUINCY, ILL. -- Here's a KHQA Safe Family crime alert -- Quincy police want to alert you to a possible scam.

The department says
a Quincy resident reported a local newspaper ad that noted the need for a "PERSONAL ASSISTANT to organize and help."

The ad also mentioned that the job pays $650 per week.

The resident e-mailed the contact and agreed to do the work.

After several days, the resident received a money order in the mail, preceded by an email with instructions to cash the money order and send money to a third party.

The resident recognized this as a probable scam and contacted the Quincy Police Department.

The Quincy Police Department encourages everyone to use caution when encountering instances like this one, especially for those who may have answered this ad.
