QUINCY, ILL. -- A father and three children are safe after a house fire Monday morning at 1523 N. 6th in Quincy.

Assistant Fire Chief Tom Bentley says the fire started in the attic.

According to StaRadio, a passerby alerted the fire department at 5:46 a.m.

The fire was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene.

On arrival, fire fighters kicked in both doors and alerted homeowner Jason Martin and his three small children.

Bentley says the fire and most of the smoke and water damage were confined to the attic, but the family will not be able to move back in until damage is repaired.

The Quincy Fire Department says no cause has been determined and it is still under investigation.
