KEOKUK, IA. -- A Keokuk woman is recovering after being rescued from the Mississippi Tuesday afternoon.

The Daily Gate City says shortly after 3:00 pm Tuesday, the 47 year old woman and her husband were walking along the river talking about her medical issues, when the woman became distraught and ran into the river.

When rescue crews arrived, she was clinging to a submerged log.

Two firefighters waded in the water with a safety rope and pulled the lady in.

She was taken to the hospital.
