MACOMB, IL. -- The city of Macomb has set its tax levy for 2011.

The McDonough County Voice reports the city council voted to levy about one point eight million dollars in property taxes to be paid in the summer.

The council also decided not to levy taxes that would have helped pay almost six point four million dollars in general obligation bonds.

Those bonds are for water plant improvements, an employee early retirement incentive, and the bonds that built the Macomb Police Station.

Instead, the council decided to take money from the city general fund and other sources to pay those bonds.
