A recent dispute over a hog confinement near La Harpe, Illinois has ended.
About 18 people were present at the Hancock County Board meeting tonight to discuss the issue.
The board voted to recommend to the Department of Agriculture that the facility be allowed.
The confinement will produce 25 hundred pigs a week and provide 18-20 full time jobs.
The final vote was 9 in favor, 2 opposed, and 1 abstention.
Three board members were absent.

More than one hundred people on both sides of the issue turned out to speak their piece about a proposed CAFO hog operation near La Harpe, Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Agriculture held a public meeting last night to provide an opportunity for the public to get accurate information about the proposed project.
Junction Acres LLC has proposed a 56 hundred -sow farm at a site northwest of LaCrosse.
Junction Acres hired Carthage-based Professional Swine Management to operate the facility expected to produce 2,500 pigs a week and provide 18 to 20 full-time jobs.
The Hancock County Board has 30 business days to make a recommendation to the department on the proposed facility.

A proposed hog confinement in Hancock County could add 18 to 20 jobs, but neighbors aren't excited about it.
The Quincy Herald Whig reports Junction Acres LLC has proposed a 5,600 sow farm a little more than a mile from LaCrosse.
The facility is expected to produce 2,500 pigs a week.
As you can imagine some residents who live in the area aren't overly thrilled by the proposal.
One of them says he doubts a local citizens group called Save Our Rural Environment will be able to stop the confinement from being built, but just wants to make sure people are aware of potential hazards that could take place.
