Residents of Marion County may be a step closer to a more personal emergency alert system.
The Hannibal Courier Post says the City Council has thrown its support behind a system that would call resident's home phones to alert them to emergency situations.
Emergency officials have been looking into a system like this for 18 months.
It's estimated that such a system will cost between $13,000 and $14,000.
