Just a day after taking a look at record weather from 2011 in the Tri-State area, the record book got another round of red ink with record highs on Thursday.
The entire upper Midwest enjoyed a dome of high pressure and a buckle in the jet stream which amounted to record highs in many communities.
The big winner was St. Louis who enjoyed a record breaking 66 degrees around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Up river Pittsfield, Ill. enjoyed a record tie with 59 degrees which matches the old record high for that day from 1916.
Then on to Southeast Iowa where records that stood for over 100 years fell Thursday. Burlington tied their 1900 record of 58, while Keokuk and Ft. Madison both broke their 1900 records of 58 with 61 degrees Thursday afternoon.
More record breaking heat is possible again on Friday ahead of a cold front that will cool things slightly in the Midwest.
