The Miss Quincy scholarship program is in the midst of its recruitment period and they want you to compete.

They need female contestants from the ages of six to twenty four.

The program is a preliminary pageant to Miss Illinois and the Miss America Association.

Scholarships vary on age level.

But the winner of Miss Quincy gets a two thousand dollar scholarship and competes at the statewide pageant.

Organizers say scholarships are an incentive to participate in the program but it can also offer other benefits.

"I have seen girls who are extremely shy turn in and blossom into these amazing young women who can do anything ," said Donna Haire, executive director of Miss Quincy.
"Can truly do anything in society, they just build themselves up so much with our program, become confident young woman," she said.

Miss Quincy is held March twenty fourth at the Oakley Lindsey Center in the Quincy Community Theatre.

If you are interested in competing in the pageant all paperwork needs to be turned in by the end of February, you can click here for more information.
