QUINCY, ILL. -- You can fight rust problems all year long with a little powder and electricity.

The process called powder coating uses electricity to fuse powder to metal surfaces like this A-T-V frame.

Then the items are baked at four hundred degrees.

The result is a shiny coating with a longer lasting finish.

You can see how powder coating is done by clicking here. Powder coating is offered at Bowtree in Quincy.

Owner Mike Ray says it's popular for people looking to protect their lawn furniture or anything prone to rust.

Ray said, "It's a baked on finish, so it actually goes into the crevices that spray paint wouldn't get into."

By the way, Ray is the inventor of the Bowtree...which is sold worldwide.
