PAYSON, ILL. -- A Payson family is cleaning up the morning after a fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom Wednesday night.

Sixteen firefighters from the Payson Volunteer Fire Department were called to a home at 361 East 1700th Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

When they arrived, the fire was contained to the bedroom where it originated. The home took on some smoke and water damage.

Two people live in the home, but everyone escaped with no injuries.

Fire Chief Don Benjamin tells KHQA the cause of the fire is undetermined, but is not suspicious.
