PAYSON, ILL. -- A Payson man will spend Tuesday evening at the State of the Union with the Obamas.
According to the Quincy Herald Whig, 23-year-old Adam Rapp received a call from secret service inviting him to the speech late last week.
The invitation stemmed from a letter he sent to President Barack Obama, thanking him for his efforts to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. That act allows for dependent children to remain on their parents' insurance plan until their 26th birthday.
Rapp had cancer and says he would have never been able to get the treatments he needed to survive without that law.
Now he'll get to thank the President in person, while sitting alongside the First Lady during the Tuesday evening State of the Union address.
It's airs at 8 p.m. on KHQA.
