The new unemployment figures are out for Northeast Missouri, and they aren’t good.
The state says the number of people without work for December rose in nine of 10 counties.

Lewis County was the only place that saw a drop, albeit a slight one.
The biggest jump was in Shelby County, where the rate went from six percent in November to nine percent in December.
Clark, Macon, Monroe, Pike and Ralls counties also saw significant increases.
The rise was less severe in Marion, Knox and Scotland counties. The city of Hannibal also saw a rise in unemployment between November and December.
