A book highlighting Louisiana, Mo. will be the focus of an upcoming lecture at the Missouri History Museum in Saint Louis.

The Enemy Among Us, written by David Fielder, chronicles of the 15 thousand German and Italian prisoners-of-war held in two dozen Missouri camps between 1942 and 1946.

One of the camps discussed in his book was in Louisiana.

The first prisoners were Italians who arrived in August 1943 and left in April 1944.

A month later, 63 German POWs were brought in and stayed until the end of the war.

The Louisiana camp closed in 1946.

Fiedler's presentation begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Missouri History Museum.

The museum is on Lindell Boulevard on the northeast side of Forest Park in St. Louis.
