Federal authorities filed additional charges against two Chicago men believed to be the leaders of a drug ring that transported crack cocaine from Chicago to Quincy via train.

Howard and Sylvester Purham were among 11 people indicted in November on charges that they brought cocaine into the city.

Now the brothers, who are associated with the Black P Stone gang in Chicago, are charged in federal court.

Adams County State Attorney Jon Barnard has said that the local charges will be dropped.

They face up to life in prison if convicted.

Also charged in November were Marvin Barnes, 29, Andrew Bunch, 29, Tyree Malone, 29, Angelo Riggs, 28, and Jeremiah Simpson, 28 of Chicago. They were indicted on charges of drug conspiracy and delivery of crack cocaine.

Those five have pleaded not guilty and their trials are set to begin here in Quincy over the next few months.

Adriane Tuttle, 22, Lasha Johnson, 22, Shiya White, 29, and Jerrica Jones, 22 were also accused of participating in the drug conspiracy, according to police reports.

Tuttle pleaded guilty Dec. 16 to manufacture and delivery of cocaine and received a five-year prison term. Jones pleaded guilty earlier this month to two drug charges and is scheduled for sentencing Feb. 27. White and Johnson pleaded not guilty and are awaiting their trials.
