Student receives head injury following bus accident

WEVER, IOWA -- A student had to be treated for a head laceration following a school bus accident near Wever, Iowa Monday afternoon.

The Lee County Sheriff's office says it happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the 3000 block of Old Quarry Road.

Chief Deputy Scott Bonar told KHQA the school bus driver lost control and went into a ditch hitting three trees.

Seven passengers were on the bus.

One student was taken by private vehicle for treatment.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain control.
