ORIGINAL STORY: Feb. 2, 2012 at 3:04 p.m.

Reports of an attempted child abduction near 24th and State in Quincy turned out to be false.

Police responded to a report Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

A 9-year-old child reported that two men in a white truck tried to lure him into their vehicle.

Officers immediately checked the area to find the truck but were unsuccessful.

After reportedly reading numerous Facebook comments about the incident, the driver and passenger of the vehicle voluntarily came to the Quincy Police Department to speak with officers about what had happened.

Police interviewed both men and determined that nothing criminal had happened.

QPD says the investigation is complete.

No arrests were made.
