A local habitat organization needs your help to keep disabled veterans and children experiencing the past time they love.

Quail Forever sponsored a youth pheasant hunt at the Boone's Hunting Preserve near Plainville Sunday to help seventeen kids harvest forty pheasants.

In its next step, the Quail Forever Golden Triangle Chapter is holding its annual banquet on February 11th at the Knights of Columbus building in Quincy.  Doors open at 5:30p.m. with a prime rib dinner at 6:30p.m. and an auction at 7:30p.m.

More than 20 guns will be given away or auctioned, as well as prints and hunts.

Tickets are available at Gamemasters or by calling 217-257-3885.

All  money raised will stay in the local community to promote hunting for all, especially disabled veterans and children.

The banquet raises money for money for next year's hunts sponsored by the organization.

On Sunday, the Quail Forever Golden Triangle Chapter partnered up with Boone's Hunting Preserve to help seventeen kids harvest forty pheasants. The group went on a four hour hunt.

It was each child's first time taking on the bird, and they were all successful. The kids that participated ranged in ages between eight and fifteen.

Golden Triangle started it's chapter last year. They host local events like this as a way to stay connected with the community.

"A hundred percent of the money that we raise stays here," said Ryan Viehmeyer, Golden Triangle president.

"So we try to spend it locally with the people that support us," he said. "You know we go around getting sponsorships for our banquets and we try to give them our money back."

"When we do that you know it in turn boosts the economy around here, helps everything out and we support people that support us," said Viehmeyer.
