(AP) -- A Missouri lawmaker wants to allow anyone in the state to kill a mountain lion.

Proposed legislation would require anyone who kills a mountain lion to report it immediately to a state conservation agent.

The body of the animal would also have to be surrendered within 24 hours.

Since 1994 the Missouri Department of Conservation has confirmed 27 mountain lion sightings in the state.

Several have come from our neck of the woods.
