MCDONOUGH COUNTY, ILL. -- Opponents of a proposed large-scale hog farm in McDonough County can breathe a sigh of relief - at least for now.

According to Tri-State Public Radio, the Illinois Department of Agriculture declined to issue a permit to South Morgan Acres, LLC.

Instead is asking developers for more information about waste handling in the proposed hog confinement north of Blandinsville.

This is required before granting its owners a permit to construct.
