HANNIBAL, MO. -- Rick Santorum took away the win yesterday during Missouri's republican presidential primary.

Santorum was the only Republican candidate to campaign in the Show-me state.

But he won't necessarily clinch the state's delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Those delegates are chosen during the March caucuses.

It cost $7 million to put on the state's presidential primary, but no delegates to the Republican National Convention will be awarded.

On the democratic side of things, President Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination for president.

Election officials didn't expect a big turnout for Missouri's primary election Tuesday.

Approximately 85 voters turned out to the Monsignor Fairschon Hall Center by noon on Tuesday.

Marion County expected about 8 to 10 percent of voters to vote.

KRCG in Jefferson City reported that the Secretary of State predicted a voter turnout of only about 23-percent, barely two-thirds of the people who voted in 2008. Robin Carnahan is among those who favor a series of four regional primaries, a collection of “Super Tuesday" elections that would rotate on the schedule every four years, to give each region a chance to be first.

"I think, in the end, it will matter.  It's going to matter in the public opinion about what happens. And, quite frankly, I think it'll put some pressure on the political parties to do the right thing and use those results to bind their delegates," MO Secretary of State Robin Carnahan said.
