The Hannibal City Council is putting its money where its mouth is to keep fireworks in America's Hometown.

During last night's city council meeting, members promised $75 hundred to the Hannibal Community Promotions Committee to help pay for this year's July 4th fireworks show.

The committee was formed to raise money for the holiday tradition after the Hannibal Jaycees said it would no longer shoulder the cost.

Committee members are contacting businesses and community groups for donations and hopes to raise $15,000 by March 15.

KHQA is very proud to be the media sponsor for this years Hannibal Fireworks celebration.
