U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Peoria) was the guest of honor at the annual Community Leader's Breakfast in Quincy.
The annual breakfast is hosted by Illinois State Representative Jil Tracy.
Schock talked about wanting to pass tax reform for the country and reforming Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
He also says some of the focus on Washington needs to be on small business, including creating new jobs.
He says the Republican House has passed a federal transportation bill, but the president only criticized it and didn't offer any alternatives.
Schock also spoke about his new house district.
Representative Aaron Schock says, "Much of the time I've been in Congress, I've kind of tiptoes around Quincy because I have parts of Adams and other parts I didn't. Now I get to own it and I'm looking forward to continuing my good relationships with Jil Tracy and the mayor and city council in Quincy."
We also asked Congressman Schock about the debate over forcing religious agencies to provide contraception for its employees, and other hot topics going on in Washington.
